The Mountains Grow Unnnoticed

E infine il più aspro dei paesaggi,
montagne e calanchi appenninici.
Secondo Emily Dickinson
Le montagne crescono inosservate...

Last but not least,
mountains of the Appennino.
Emily Dickinson thought that
the mountains grow unnoticed...

The Mountains - grow unnoticed -
Their Purple figures rise
Without attempt - Exhaustion -
Assistance - or Applause -
In Their Eternal Faces
The Sun - with broad delight
Looks long - and last - and golden -
For fellowship - at night -

Le Montagne - crescono inosservate -
Le loro Purpuree figure s'innalzano
Senza sforzo - Spossatezza -
Assistenza - o Applauso -
Nei loro Volti Eterni
Il Sole - con aperta letizia
Pregusta una lunga - ed estrema - e dorata -
Compagnia - per la notte -

The Grass so little has to do...

Una vallata di girasoli e querce,
di erba verde e gialla,
erba che ha poco da fare.
Come dice Emily Dickinson.

A valley of sunflowers and oaks,
of green and yellow grass,
and the grass has so little to do.
In Emily Dickinson's words.

The Grass so little has to do -

A Sphere of simple Green -
With only Butterflies to brood
And Bees to entertain -

And stir all day to pretty Tunes

The Breezes fetch along -
And hold the Sunshine in it's lap
And bow to everything -

And thread the Dews, all night, like Pearls -

And make itself so fine
A Duchess were too common
For such a noticing -

And even when it dies - to pass

In Odors so divine -
Like Lowly spices, lain to sleep -
Or Spikenards, perishing -

And then, in Sovreign Barns to dwell -

And dream the Days away,
The Grass so little has to do
I wish I were a Hay -

In Odori così divini -
Come Umili spezie, che giacciono nel sonno -
O Nardi indiani, morenti -

E poi, in Sovrani Fienili dimorare -
E sognare i Giorni lontani,
L'Erba ha così poco da fare
Che vorrei essere Fieno -

Water, is thought by thirst.

Dalle dune si aprono varchi per il mare,
e il blu luccica in fondo,
sopra al bianco della sabbia,
rigata dall'ombra dei pini.
Ancora le parole di Emily Dickinson.

Water, is taught by thirst.
Land - by the oceans passed.
Transport - by throe -
Peace - by it's battles told -
Love, by memorial mold -
Birds, by the snow.

L'acqua, è insegnata dalla sete.
La terra - dagli oceani traversati.
Il trasporto - dallo spasimo -
La pace - dai suoi racconti di battaglie -
L'amore, dalla memoria di un ritratto -
Gli uccelli, dalla neve.
