ART COLLECTION # 3. Charles Saatchi.

Nel 2009 pubblica un'autobiografia intitolata My Name Is Charles Saatchi And I Am An Artoholic. Sottotitolato Everything You Need To Know About Art, Ads, Life, God And Other Mysteries And Weren't Afraid To Ask (Mi chiamo Charles Saatchi e sono un arte-dipendente.
The Saatchi Gallery, "The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living" by Damien Hirst, "My Bed" by Tracey Emin, portrait of Charles Saatchi by Michael Frith.
In 1969, at age twenty-six he purchased his first work of art by Sol LeWitt, and that was probably the first step leading to a real, lifelong art addiction.
Charles Saatchi is maybe the most famous and discussed advertising guru, art collector and art supporter of our days.
During the 90's he sponsored the Young British Artists (YBAs) movement, that included Damien Hirst, whose "The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living" cost Saatchi £50,000, and Tracey Emin, whose famous artwork "My Bed" was paid £150,000.
Saatchi founded the Saatchi Gallery in 1985, which was donated in 2010, together with 200 works of art to the British public.
In 2009, he published the book "My Name Is Charles Saatchi And I Am An Artoholic." Subtitled "Everything You Need To Know About Art, Ads, Life, God And Other Mysteries And Weren't Afraid To Ask".
Charles Saatchi also gave artists the possibility to showcase their work, both in a tv programme, and in the Saatchi online, the section of the gallery where artists can sell their work, thus avoiding to work with an art gallery or curator. Something completely new.

ART COLLECTION # 2

Clockwise. FONDAZIONE PRADA, Miuccia Prada, GUGGENHEIM Museum Bilbao,
Abby Rockefeller, Peggy Guggenheim, MOMA Museum NY.

THE GREAT COLLECTIONIST

From Mecenate to Reinassance Princes, from Abby Aldrich Rockefeller, who contributed to founding the MOMA to Peggy Guggenheim, one would say the necessary condition for becoming an art collector is being a millionaire.
But it's clear this is not the only characteristic needed, otherwise we could not explain the fact that, according to Artribune, Miuccia Prada, founder of the Fondazione Prada, should be the only italian collector of our days. It's clear that, if you want to invest in art, the first thing you need is passion, and a certain vision.
History teaches that this passion is often payed back with a lot of success, and thanks to those who believed in culture and supported artists we can visit marvellous museums and collections. Millions of visitors and the rich business surrounding these realities proof that culture can really move money.
Charles Saatchi knows it well, having created a real art empire during the last two decades, bringing culture into a 2.0 consumer dimension.

ART COLLECTION # 1. INTRO.

We will soon understand with the Digital Portraits interviews (the first one is scheduled for next Wednesday, so don't miss it!), the artist today needs to work with the internet as well as with traditional means of communication, and this has deeply changed the visibility of their work respect to the past.
Internet offers the opportunity to meet, stay in touch, communicate, exchange ideas and opinions with other artists and art lovers.
Even the way to buy artworks has changed, and people can often directly contact the artist or even buy online.
And buying art is a very good habit.
ART COLLECTION will re-search in the market of art 2.0.
