Come in Etsy, tutti possono postare, così dovrete fare un po' di ricerca per trovare quello che vi piace, e non offre nemmeno pagine curate, ma non si sa mai dove si può trovare quello che ci piace...

Have you ever seen the contemporary art section of Art Quid? Here is their motto: "Hunt for Art, Design and Antiques. Find all kinds of artworks exhibited by artists, art dealers and enthusiasts". Just like in Etsy, everybody can post, so you'll have to do a bit of researching for finding something you like, and it doesn't offer curated pages, but one never knows where you can find your treasure...

Se non state cercando opere d'arte originali e preferite delle stampe meno impegnative, allora potete dare un'occhiata a Society6. Ha una sezione Wall Art dove potete scegliere un'immagine che vi piace e stamparla su vari supporti. La cosa divertente è che non la potete stampare solo su carta e tela, ma anche su magliette, cuscini, biglietti, orologi, tazze, tappeti, e addirittura tende da doccia!

It has a Wall Art section where you can choose your favorite image and have it printed on different materials. The funny thing is that you can not only print on paper or stretched canvases, but also tshirts, pillows, cards, clocks, mugs, rugs and even shower curtains!

Perché queste realtà nascono numerose ovunque e oggi vi porto a fare acquisti per la vostra ART COLLECTION in un sito nato in Polonia. 

"YouArtMe è un progetto che prende origine da un'urgente necessità... portare il lavoro dei nostri artisti e designers preferiti nella nostra vita quotidiana". YouArtMe offre, oltre ad altri articoli di moda e design, opere originali con pezzi anche molto costosi, fino a quasi 4000 euro, e riproduzioni artistiche (tele incorniciate e posters) a prezzi decisamente abbordabili.

ART COLLECTION # 11. Etsy.

Il mese scorso abbiamo cominciato a cercare su internet per cercare buoni posti per comprare arte online, e abbiamo cominciato con Saatchi Online. Oggi ho scelto Etsy, che è il marketplace scelto da molti artisti talentuosi per vendere la loro arte (e potete leggere le interviste di Art on Etsy per conoscerne alcuni) e dove io stessa ho creato il mio primo negozio. 

Etsy è un enorme markeplace e offre quasi tutto, ma ha una sezione speciale dedicata all'arte dove si può cercare per categorie come ritratti, dipinti, acquerelli, disegni, illustrazione, stampe, opere astratte, fotografia e perfino ritratti di animali. L'offerta è impressionante, e ci potreste mettere un po' a trovare quello che preferite, ma non scoraggiatevi! Si possono trovare sia originali che riproduzioni e i prezzi variano dai 10 ai 400 dollari.

Last month we started surfing the internet in order to find good markeplaces to buy art, and began with Saatchi Online. Today I chose Etsy, which is  the marketplace many talented artists choose to sell their art online (and you can read my Art on Etsy interviews to get to know some) and where I created my first shop. 

Etsy is a huge marketplace and offers almost everything, but has a special section dedicated to art, where you can browse for categories like custom portraits, paintings, watercolor paintings, drawings, illustration, abstract painting, prints, photography and even custom pet portraits. The offer is impressive, and you might take some time finding what you like most, but don't get discouraged! You can find both originals and reproductions, and the prices range from 10 to 400 dollars.

ART COLLECTION # 10. Saatchi Online.

Nei precedenti post di ART COLLECTION, dedicati a chi desidera iniziare una collezione propria, abbiamo parlato di grandi collezionisti, di fiered’arte, di open studios e abbiamo visto alcune 5 ragioni per comprare arte. Da oggi ci tuffiamo davvero nel mercato dell’arte 2.0, ovvero dove acquistare arte online. Dato che abbiamo già parlato del suo creatore, il pubblicitario Charles Saatchi, inizieremo con Saatchi online. Questa galleria virtuale è abbinata al sito della famosa galleria di Chelsea, a Londra, la Saatchi Hall. Si tratta appunto della versione 2.0. del modello di scouting adottato fin dall’inizio dall’uomo d’affari, e consente agli artisti, senza nessuna selezione previa, di mostrare e vendere le loro opere. All’interno di questa iniziativa, vengono inoltre banditi dei piccoli concorsi a tema, gli Showdowns, il cui vincitore viene scelto dagli utenti e da una giuria competente. Saatchi online collabora anche con personalità del mondo del mercato dell’arte, a cui viene chiesto di curare delle piccole selezioni e di presentare i loro artisti preferiti. I prezzi in questo sito possono superare i 5000$ ma si trovano anche stampe molto economiche, intorno ai 50$. 
E ci sono anche io!

In the previous ART COLLECTION posts, dedicated to those who’d love to start a personal collection, we’ve talking about great collectionists, art fairs, open studios and found 5 good reasons to buy art. Today we start seeking the internet for places to buy art. As we’ve already talked about Charles Saatchi, we’ll kick off with Saatchi online. This virtual gallery matches the famous, London based, Saatchi Hall. It is the internet version of the typical scouting model of Mr. Saatchi and it allows artists to showcase and sell their artworks with no previous selection. One of the initiatives to promote art of this website are the Showdowns, little contests whose winner is chosen by a competent jury and by the users. Moreover, many personalities of the art market are called to curate small collections and to give their advice and tips on artists. Prices can reach more than 5000$ but you can find affordable prints for 50$.
And I'm there too!

ART COLLECTION # 8. Open Studios.

Il modo più interessante e coinvolgente per avvicinarsi all'arte è quello di avere il privilegio di visitare gli studi degli artisti.

Nell'immagine si possono vedere gli studi di alcuni veri genii dell'arte, potete immaginare che emozione e privilegio sarebbe stato poter vedere come lavoravano?

Oggi possiamo avere la possibilità di visitare quegli spazi molto privati.

In Italia, il museo MACRO di Roma ha organizzato l'anno scorso Studi d'artista: Open Studio, un programma che prevede di offrire a 4 artisti uno spazio all'interno del museo per alcuni mesi, dove potranno lavorare e che sarà visitabile alla fine del soggiorno.

Ma è anche possibile, in alcuni periodi dell'anno, visitare gli studi, così dovrete solo digitare "open studios" e il nome della vostra città, per avere questa possibilità e scoprire quali artisti si rendono disponibili ad aprire le porte sul loro lavoro.

E se c'è un artista che amate particolarmente, potete cercare nel suo sito se accetta visite in studio. Non abbiate paura di chiedere!

The best, most exciting and enticing way of getting close to art, is having the privilege of visiting the artists' studios. 

In the picture you can see the studios of some true art geniuses, can you imagine what emotion and privilege it could have been to see how they worked?

Nowadays we sometimes have the possibility to enter those private places.

In my country the museum MACRO, in Rome, organized in 2012 Studi d'artista: Open Studio, inviting four artists to create a studio and work inside the museum for a limited period of time, at the end of which visitors can enter the studios.

But it's often possible, in certain periods of the year, to visit the studios, so what you should do is just to digit "open studios" and the name of your city to discover those artists who decided to open their door to visitors.

And if there is an artist you particularly love, you can search in their website if they accept visits. Don't be afraid to ask!

Pensate di avere in comune qualcosa con Peggy Guggenheim, Abby Aldrich Rockefeller, Miuccia Prada or Charles Saatchi? 

Se anche voi siete degli artoholics ma non dei miliardari, allora consolatevi, l'arte non deve essere costosa ma bella, e tutti possono creare la loro personalissima collezione.

Ma dato che quando si parla di acquistare arte tutto sembra molto difficile, forse avete bisogno di qualche dritta.

ART COLLECTION # 3. Charles Saatchi.

Nel 1969, all'età di 26 anni, comprò la sua prima opera d'arte a Sol LeWitt, e quello fu probabilmente il primo passo che lo portò verso una reale e costante dipendenza dall'arte.

Charles Saatchi è probabilmente il più famoso e discusso guru pubblicitario, collezionista d'arte e mecenate dei giorni nostri.

Durante gli anni 90 supportò il movimento dei Young British Artists, che includeva come esponente di spicco Damien Hirst, il cui The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living" costò a Saatchi £50,000, e Tracey Emin, la cui opera più famosa "My Bed", fu pagata £150,000.

Saatchi fondò nel 1985 la Saatchi Gallery, che fu donata nel 2010, insieme a 200 opere d'arte, all'Inghilterra.

Nel 2009 pubblica un'autobiografia intitolata My Name Is Charles Saatchi And I Am An Artoholic. Sottotitolato Everything You Need To Know About Art, Ads, Life, God And Other Mysteries And Weren't Afraid To Ask (Mi chiamo Charles Saatchi e sono un arte-dipendente. Sottotitolato Tutto quello che volevi sapere sull'arte, la pubblicità, la vita, Dio e altri misteri e hai osato chiedere).

Charles Saatchi ha anche dato la possibilità agli artisti di mostrare il proprio lavoro, prima con una trasmissione televisiva, e poi con la Saatchi Online, la sezione della galleria dove ogni artista può vendere il proprio lavoro, bypassando completamente lo step della galleria e del curatore. Una cosa completamente nuova.

Charles Saatchi is maybe the most famous and discussed advertising guru, art collector and art supporter of our days.

During the 90's he sponsored the Young British Artists (YBAs) movement, that included Damien Hirst, whose "The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living" cost Saatchi £50,000, and Tracey Emin, whose famous artwork "My Bed" was paid £150,000.

Saatchi founded the Saatchi Gallery in 1985, which was donated in 2010, together with 200 works of art to the British public.

In 2009, he published the book "My Name Is Charles Saatchi And I Am An Artoholic." Subtitled "Everything You Need To Know About Art, Ads, Life, God And Other Mysteries And Weren't Afraid To Ask".

Charles Saatchi also gave artists the possibility to showcase their work, both in a tv programme, and in the Saatchi online, the section of the gallery where artists can sell their work, thus avoiding to work with an art gallery or curator. Something completely new.

ART COLLECTION # 1. INTRO.

Come vedremo presto nelle interviste Ritratti Digitali (la prima in programma per mercoledì, non perdetela!), l'artista oggi lavora necessariamente anche con internet, oltre ai canali tradizionali, e questo rende disponibile il suo lavoro in maniera molto più immediata rispetto al passato. 

Internet offre un modo per conoscere, rimanere in contatto, comunicare, scambiare idee ed opinioni con altri artisti e amanti dell'arte.

Anche i canali di vendita sono cambiati, ed è sempre più facile contattare l'artista direttamente, o addirittura acquistare online.

E acquistare opere d'arte è un'ottima abitudine. 

ART COLLECTION si propone di indagare sul mercato dell'arte 2.0. 

We will soon understand with the Digital Portraits interviews (the first one is scheduled for next Wednesday, so don't miss it!), the artist today needs to work with the internet as well as with traditional means of communication, and this has deeply changed the visibility of their work respect to the past.

Internet offers the opportunity to meet, stay in touch, communicate, exchange ideas and opinions with other artists and art lovers.

Even the way to buy artworks has changed, and people can often directly contact the artist or even buy online. 

And buying art is a very good habit.
